3D Visualization For An Extensive Product Range
Giro Sport is a leader in outdoor sports specializing in bike helmets, skiing helmets, snowboarding helmets, goggles and other outdoor sport accessories.
The Problem
When Giro relied on photography for product catalogs, it experienced some delivery issues - incomplete photoshoots due to delayed samples, unplanned shipping, rental and labor expenses, and significant post processing to clean up surfaces and fabrics. And for new product launches, there were no samples at all. Consequently, sales managers used illustrations in catalogs, which adversely impacted sales.
The Solution
If a manufacturer has a large product range with multiple variants of the same product, product renderings for catalog images a good option to create visual assets. With this in mind, Giro partnered with Nashbox Studios to create 3D product renderings and animations. The project included over 60 helmets and 100 goggles. Each helmet has about 10 color variants and each goggle had three, making digital renderings the appropriate process for asset generation.

The Results
Every year, we deliver over 1200 images and 3-5 videos and interactive animations. 4 Nashbox team members work on the various projects, over a period of 8 to 12 weeks, depending upon the deliverables.
Overall, Giro has experienced a 17% reduction in catalog asset costs. The quality of the renderings is realistic, and even the cloth and fibers look lifelike. Below is a comparison between traditional photography and 3D rendering.
