3D Product Visualization: Level Up Your Content Strategy

The rise of social media has revolutionized content creation, making it accessible to anyone with a camera and a computer. However, producing high-quality content still demands a thorough understanding of foundational principles and the ability to leverage new technologies effectively.

Photography and video are still relevant, and will continue to be relevant for a while. However, animation is a disruptor in the industry. And 3D product visualization is a disruptor within the world of animation itself, especially when it comes to advertising for products like consumer goods, energy storage, clean tech and industrial machinery.

A Product Marketer’s Challenges

Marketing managers and directors face a variety of problems when it comes to content creation:

  • Lead Times: Take the case of a company like The Home Depot. The company has one big sales period - the months of spring and summer. Home owners (and renters) go crazy redecorating, gardening and buying consumer goods like deck railings, flower pot holders, grills, refrigerators, and thousands of other products. With such a large number of SKUs, it is imperative that they receive marketing assets from all their vendors well before the sales season kicks off.

  • Budgets: Let’s face it, professional content creation costs a pretty penny. While it is a worthwhile expense, a lot of other expenses are as well. A day long product photoshoot can be to $5K and higher. When you need over 2000 e-commerce images each year, like cycling industry giant Giro Sport Design does, your photography costs are going to be pretty high. Yikes!

  • Flexibility: Often times your product has intrinsic technology that helps your clients understand it’s function better and influences their buying decisions, but is difficult to explain using the usual methods. JR Automation, a Hitachi Company always had this challenge, as their made to order manufacturing modules were difficult to explain with the way they were used to creating content.

  • The Need to Stand Out: When all your competitors have nice, catchy photos and videos on their website and social media, how do you stand out? More pictures and videos? In most cases, quantity is not the answer. Variety of a different kind is, which is exactly what BowFinger Archery was looking for.

So How Did They Level Up?

  • Peak Products, one of Home Depot’s largest suppliers in Canada, decided to partner with Nashbox Studios to have their visuals ready well in time. The Results: photorealistic product renderings and Lifestyle Images that are now used across their website, and Home Depot’s. All assets were created well ahead of schedule.

  • Giro made the switch to product renderings for catalog images during the pandemic, when photography studios were shut down. The Results: Improved lead times, better quality and a whopping 17% reduction in creative asset costs!

  • JR Automation has partnered with Nashbox Studios on multiple projects involving the use of Industrial 3D Animation to explain their modular manufacturing systems to their clients.

  • BowFinger. Archery used product 3D animation for their new product, the 1Sight, which resulted in greater online engagement even before the product was formally launched into the market.

Besides these, we have also worked on product renderings and 3D animation for consumer products like robotic vacuums, perfumes and cosmetics.
