Animate in 2025: The Latest Trends In Product Rendering & Animation Technology

Animation continues to push the boundaries of creativity and technology in 2025, becoming an indispensable tool for industrial and consumer goods companies. Among its many applications, product animation is gaining significant traction, particularly in sectors like consumer goods, industrial equipment, and technology. Here’s a closer look at the trends shaping the animation landscape this year, with a focus on how they’re transforming product animation.

Hyper Realistic Product Renderings

Advancements in rendering technology have enabled animators to achieve near-photorealistic visuals. This is especially impactful in product animation, where detailed textures, accurate lighting, and lifelike motion are essential for showcasing items in a realistic environment.

For example, industrial equipment and consumer goods manufacturers now use hyper-realistic animations to demonstrate their machines' operations, making complex concepts easier to grasp for clients and stakeholders.

Many companies now utilize renderings in lieu of product photography.

Interactive 3D Animation

Interactive 3D animations are revolutionizing how products are presented. Brands are incorporating these animations into their websites and AR applications, allowing users to rotate, zoom, and even interact with products in a virtual space. This trend is particularly popular in the consumer goods sector, where customers can explore features of a product before making a purchase decision.

Minimalist Aesthetic

While hyper-realism is gaining popularity, minimalist design remains a strong trend in product animation. This style emphasizes clean lines, simple shapes, and bold colors, making it easier to focus on a product's key features. It’s an effective approach for tech gadgets, where clarity and functionality are critical.

Here is an example of one such animation done for Sam Altman backed nuclear power company, Oklo, Inc. The aesthetic requested was greyscale so that the product and its applications are given equal weight.

Miniature Animation

Social media platforms need shorter clips that are able to convey the entire message in a matter of seconds. For products or services with multiple applications, miniature animations help to depict various applications in a single scene.

The animation here is an example of one such animation for California based Capstone Green Energy, a manufacturing company that builds gas turbines. The scene comprises of multiple sectors and clients that Capstone services.

Use Of Artificial Intelligence

marketing content for Roomba using generative AI and product rendering technologies

Last year we used generative AI in a couple of projects. And we received a very positive response from many other clients. One such example is for Roomba, where the base image was created using MidJourney, and rendered images of the products were composited with the base image.

The benefits - highly improved flexibility and reduced costs. This combination of technologies greatly improves ROI for consumer goods companies using animation and generative AI for marketing content.
